Feb. 2021 saw the economy add 259,200 jobs. Are you ready to get back to work?
The pandemic wreaked havoc in the job market. Company shut-downs and economic restrictions sent unemployment rates soaring. However, with lockdowns lifting, Canada has seen some relief, with over 250,000 jobs added this past Feb. Not surprisingly, there will be huge competition vying for each of these positions.
Seth W. Godin, American author and former dot com business executive is quoted as saying, “You are not your resume. You are your work.” While we are certainly not going to dispute that, the fact remains that you still have to get your foot in the door before you can even start to prove your worth. And when on average, each corporate job offer attracts 250 resumes and of those, only four to six will get called for an interview, you had better make sure that you stand out from the rest right from the get-go.
